How Do I Create A BlockFi Account?

What you need to get started

Social security number Valid phone number (this is used for SMS verification) Valid government ID (see acceptable forms of ID below) Real-time selfie photo (best taken with a smart phone rather than a webcam) Be 18 years of age or older

How to sign up

Go to https://app.blockfi.com/signup from a browser on your computer, or download and open the BlockFi app on Android or iOS to get started.

1) Create your account

Click or tap Get started. You’ll be asked for the following information. Please ensure you enter accurate, up-to-date information to avoid any issues. Legal first name (we’ll ask for proof) Legal last name/surname (we’ll ask for proof) Email address (use one that you have access to) Create a password (write this down and store in a secure place) Referral code (leave blank if you’re not signing up with a referral code) Read the Terms & Conditions, Interest Account Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy. Check the boxes and click Submit if you agree. BlockFi will send you a verification email to your registered email address.

2) Verify your email

Click the link or copy the URL provided in the email you received from BlockFi. This email will be from BlockFi Support (support@blockfi.com).

Clicking the link in the email will take you to app.blockfi.com.

Sign back into your BlockFi account using the email and password you recently entered to complete the email verification process.

3) Verify your personal information

BlockFi is required by law to ask for certain information from customers in order to approve them to use BlockFi’s products. You can learn more about how we use your information in our Privacy Policy.

Indicate whether you are signing up for an individual or business account. You’ll be prompted to add a phone number. Enter your address, then click continue. Make sure the address you provide matches the address on one of your valid government IDs, which you will have to provide later in the signup process. *Unfortunately, we are not licensed to offer BlockFi Interest Account or BlockFi trading services to residents of New York. Enter your phone number, including the country code, then click continue.

Individual accounts:

US Users -

Enter your date of birth, then click continue. Indicate your main source of funds for investing in crypto, then click continue. Enter your social security number, then click continue. BlockFi will run a screen on your records to verify that you’re approved to use BlockFi products. Federal regulations require us to collect this information to satisfy “know your customer” requirements. We do not sell customer information to third party providers. You’ll then be notified via email on next steps.

International Users:

Enter your date of birth, then click continue. Indicate your main source of funds for investing in crypto, then click continue. Select your country that is associated with your valid government ID, then click continue. Choose which kind of document you want to upload (driver’s license, national ID, or passport). Use your smartphone camera to take a picture of the front and back of your ID. See tips on proper document upload below:

Click done. BlockFi will run a screen on your records to verify that you’re approved to use BlockFi products. Federal regulations require us to collect this information to satisfy “know your customer” requirements. We do not sell customer information to third party providers. You’ll then be notified via email on next steps.

Business accounts:

Enter your business name, then click continue. Select your business industry, then click continue. Select your business type, then click continue. Enter your tax ID. Indicate the business owners of the company, providing their first name(s), last name(s), and email address(es), then click continue. BlockFi will run a screen on your records to verify that you’re approved to use BlockFi products. Federal regulations require us to collect this information to satisfy “know your customer” requirements. We do not sell customer information to third party providers. This process can take up to 5 business days. You’ll then be notified via email on next steps.

4) Fund your account

To fund your BlockFi Interest Account, you can transfer your crypto from another wallet, or transfer funds from an external bank account. Funds from external bank accounts are automatically deposited into your BlockFi Interest Account as Gemini dollars (GUSD), which you can choose to hold and earn (X% APY). or you can use the funds to buy the crypto currency of your choice.
